Ms. Sheila Guarderas founded Superior Services, Inc (SSI) in Alaska in 1986, and relocated it in 1989 to Fresno, California, in order to expand the line of services. The company specializes in the management of food service, warehousing, facility support services, BITS (Base Information Transfer System), environmental services, and laundry services. Over the last eighteen years, the company has grown to over 650 employees with annual revenues in excess of $ 15 million. Hispanic Business magazine has rated Superior Services, Inc. among the 500 largest Hispanic owned businesses in the United States for the past seven years and the 6th fastest-growing Hispanic-owned business in the United States during 1994.

The Company's record of sustained "superior" performance has made it one of the leaders among small businesses in the service industry. Among the many awards the company has received are the Hennessey Award" (highest quality multiple facility food service operation in the US Air Force worldwide) and the "Golden Spoon" Award from the National Restaurant Association for its operation at Nellis AFB in Nevada, both awarded in 1997. In addition to the headquarters in Fresno, the company also operates satellite offices throughout the West Coast as part of their contracting business.
