Case History - Presidio of Monterey
The scope of work included providing all labor and materials necessary to supply full food service to the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center and the Presidio of Monterey. Work included menu planning, ordering and purchasing of food, receiving and storage of subsistence, food preparation, food serving, headcount and cashier services, inventory control, administrative and accounting services, equipment control and minor maintenance, minor building maintenance, housekeeping services, field feeding and quality control for an area of more than 36,000 square feet using 40 employees to accomplish the work.
We maintained excellent relations with our employees as evidenced by our turnover rate of only 4% annually in our facilities and management staff. We provided training programs and opportunities for advancement to all interested employees. We worked with the unions to improve membership skills and maintain open lines of communications. During the life of the contract we had no grievances or work stoppages. To maintain good business relations we conducted a quarterly performance review with the Contracting Officer and senior SSI management personnel to identify problems and find solutions. We also included Government personnel in our annual performance review and strategic planning for the coming year.
