Warehouse Management
SSI's warehouse management experience includes all warehouse support functions ranging from packing, crating, material handling, transportation, material, assembly, disassembly of rack and shelving, loading and unloading to palletizing and other work similar in nature. These functions are addressed individually in the sections below to clearly illustrate our capabilities.
Specific Warehouse Support Services
Superior Services Inc. operates and manages the TISA warehousing facilities at Ft. Irwin in support of the National Training Center and GSA's largest West Coast distribution center for the US Army. SSI provides all transportation of merchandise, loading and unloading trucks, operating forklifts, palletizing and stocking, and fundamental skill in receiving/recording work activities into electronic devices, which are hand-wrist and forklift mounted devices and finally quality control over the entire warehousing operation. SSI operate the TISA warehouse at Ft. Irwin under contract to the US Army. We support five (5) contractors who operate prime vendor accounts with US Army. At the TISA Warehouse, SSI maintains an inventory of approximately 100 line items valued at $2 million. Our operation performs over 80 shipments per month and receives 60-70 trucks per month with an average of 47,000 lbs/truck. SSI also operate the Western Distribution Center (WDC) for the GSA st French Camp, CA. The WDC is a supply distribution facility that primarily supports all federal agencies and the military for their office product requirements. The Center often supports emergency operations from FEMA, Emergency Wildfire Suppression, and military operations worldwide. SSl is providing a wide range of Facility and Logistical Support Services to the WDC and GSA. These include, but are not limited to, Logistical Support Services, General Clerk Services, Administrative Services, Processing, Procurement, Computer Operations and Data Processing. The WDC is a fully integrated distribution operation with both domestic and export operations. The Center receives stock, stores stock, prints and sorts order documents, selects stock, inventories stock and prepares all associated documents for processing orders.
Packing and Crating

SSI personnel perform packing and crating activities to prepare loads for shipment off post or for issues to the field. SSI processes approximately 80 truck shipments per month that may require packing and crating support at TISA. [same info from Ben Lopez]

Material Handling

SSI personnel perform a variety of material handling tasks at our warehouse operations. Material handling is performed in support of receipts, issues, shipments, and in support of general inventory management. SSI personnel use a variety of material handling equipment in the performance of these duties including electric forklifts, narrow isle forklifts, electric riding pallet jacks/hand truck, electric pallet jack/hand truck, and manual pallet jacks/hand trucks.

Transportation
SSI personnel perform the following tasks when receiving material into our facilities:
  • Verify manifests, bills of lading, and other shipping documents against freight received to ensure that they reconcile National Stock Number (NSN) and nomenclature against quantities shipped.
  • Visually inspect all shipments for overages, shortages, and damaged (OS&D) items and complete discrepancy reports if necessary
  • Received items are assigned a storage location code and are staged for warehousing
SSI personnel perform the following tasks when shipping material from our facilities:
  • Items are removed from stock according to the shipping manifest.
  • Items are staged and are inventoried again to ensure proper quantities and materials are included in the shipment
  • The shipment is delivered to the designated FOB point, either on a customer truck for delivery or direct-issued to the customer.
  • Customer signatures are obtained verifying receipt of ordered goods.
Material

The SSI managed TISA facility at Ft. Irwin provides storage and distribution for perishable and semi-perishable foodstuffs and other material. At our GSA facility we provide storage and distribution for hazardous materials.

Assembly and Disassembly of Racks and Shelving

SSI personnel assemble, disassemble, and relocate racks, shelving, and pallet risers as needed to ensure optimum use of the warehouse space at our warehouse facilities.

Loading and Unloading

Our warehouse operations perform loading and unloading support for over 80 shipments per month and receives 60-70 trucks per month with an average of 47,000 lbs /truck. [cumulate with data from Ben]

Palletizing

SSI personnel routinely performs numerous tasks when issuing material from our TISA and GSA facilities. These tasks include pulling orders upon request, hand stacking cases onto pallets, shrink wrapping pallets and preparing pallets for staging and shipment.
